Justice. A search is underway at the RN headquarters, Jordan Bardella denounces "a relentless attack"

National Rally President Jordan Bardella announced on Wednesday that a search was underway at the party's headquarters, carried out according to him by "around twenty police officers from the financial brigade" and "two investigating judges," in a message on X.

"A serious attack on pluralism"

"All emails, documents and accounting records of the leading opposition party have been seized, without us knowing at this stage exactly what the grievances are," he explained, denouncing "harsh harassment."

The party leader assured that the search began at 8:50 a.m. this Wednesday and specified that it also included "the offices of the leaders." "All the files relating to the latest regional, presidential, legislative, and European campaigns are now in the hands of the courts," explained Jordan Bardella.

He denounced a "spectacular and unprecedented operation" which, according to him, was "part of a new harassment operation." "It is a serious attack on pluralism and democratic change," he said indignantly, believing that "no opposition party has ever suffered such relentless persecution under the Fifth Republic."

2022 and 2024 election campaigns

According to the Paris prosecutor's office, the investigations focus on various election campaigns in 2022 and 2024. "The judicial investigation should make it possible to determine whether these campaigns were financed, in particular, through illegal loans from individuals benefiting the National Rally party or candidates, as well as through overcharging for services or invoicing for fictitious services that were subsequently included in the requests for lump-sum reimbursement by the State for campaign expenses," the prosecutor's office explains.

He added that a judicial investigation was opened on July 3, 2024, "following several reports from institutional sources." The day before, the European Public Prosecutor's Office announced that it had opened an investigation into the political family to which the National Rally belonged in the European Parliament before 2024 for various financial irregularities.

"A year after stealing the elections through its shenanigans and lies, the System is sinking into dirty tricks," commented Jean-Philippe Tanguy, the deputy president of the RN group in the National Assembly, on X. "The institutions are being hijacked by gangs who want to hold onto power at all costs!" he declared.
